WPUDA Telecommunications Program

FAST FACTS

In 2000, the Legislature authorized the state’s public utility districts to provide wholesale telecommunications services.
By 2007, 12 PUDs had installed more than 3,400 miles of fiber-optic cable, an investment of $185 million.
They provided wholesale telecommunications to 121 retail providers who served more than 14,000 end customers.
