WPUDA Telecommunications Program

  • In 2000, the Legislature authorized the state’s public utility districts to provide wholesale telecommunications services.
  • By 2007, 12 PUDs had installed more than 3,400 miles of fiber-optic cable, an investment of $185 million.
  • They provided wholesale telecommunications to 121 retail providers who served more than 14,000 end customers.
